---- — Monthly luncheon meal set for Wednesday

MARKLEVILLE — The Christian Women’s Fellowship (C.W.F.) "Comfort Keepers" of the East Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 124 E. Main St., Markleville, will have its monthly “God Abundance Meal” on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower fellowship hall of the church.

Offered will be chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, dessert and drink with a free will offering accepted.

Carry out will be available. If you a shut in or a small business in the immediate area and would like a carry out delivered call the church at 533-4996 day of the meal or Diane at 533-2330 ASAP.

AHS class of '66 plans picnic

ANDERSON — The AHS Class of '66 Fall Picnic will be held at the 40 & 8, 1600 S. Rangeline Road, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Cost is $5 per person.

Chicken, ham and soft drinks will be furnished and those attending should bring a covered dish to share. DJ Buddy Patterson will entertain.

10th annual Poker Run set for Saturday

SUMMITVILLE — Summitville Main Street will present the 10th annual Poker Run "Jon's Ride" on Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration begins at noon at the Community Building, 102 E. Walnut St., Summitville, with kickstands up at 1 p.m.

Cost is $15 per rider and $10 for passenger, and includes a hog roast with all the fixings, beer garden, two live bands, door prizes, and motorcycle field events.

Cost for meal only is $9 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-10.

All proceeds benefit the construction of the war monument for the Town of Summitville.

MOB registration to be held Thursday

ANDERSON — Merchants Older Buddies (MOB) registration will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Park Place Community Center, 802 E. Fifth St., Anderson (use east entrance).

The registration offers discounts to those 60 years of age and older at various area merchants. A one-time fee of $4 is charged.

No registration will be conducted in October.

Upcoming produce giveways in Madison County

ANDERSON — Produce giveaways sponsored by the Madison County Community Health Center will take place this week.

The first is planned for Tuesday, from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m., at 1547 Ohio Ave., Anderson, and from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1518 Main St., Elwood.

A giveaway is also planned for Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at 315 S. Harrison St., Alexandria.

Basket/bingo fundraiser Wednesday

ALEXANDRIA — The Christian Congregation Church Alexandria Chapter Delta Theta Tau will host Longaberger Basket and Vera Bradley Bingo on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Alexandria-Monroe High School Cafeteria.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.

Proceeds will benefit the Alexandria Community Center.
