---- — PENDLETON — Members of the Pendleton Heights High School Student Council are in the process of planning and organizing Homecoming 2013 with a weekend full of activities.

“The Greatest Homecoming on Earth” kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 24, with the Second Annual Faculty/Student Kickball Game at the softball field at 6 p.m. The Homecoming Extravaganza will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at the football stadium. The Extravaganza includes class competition including tug-of-war and football toss contests followed by the annual Powder Puff football game between the junior and senior girls. Members of the football team will coach their female classmates and male cheerleaders will cheer on their favorite team from the sidelines. Admission to this event is $4.

Friday evening, Sept. 27, all units in the Homecoming Parade are to congregate at the Falls Park “circle” just east of the Community Building between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival at the park, all units should check in with Cori Hunckler, homecoming parade coordinator. The parade will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and wind its way through the park to Pendleton Avenue to State Street and out to the Arabian stadium.

Parade Marshal this year is Jim Noggle. This will be Noggle’s first time to be in the parade, as he spent the last 30-plus years organizing it. He retired this past spring after 44 years of teaching high school math.

The Homecoming Parade will include the PHHS Marching Arabians, high school, middle school, and elementary clubs and athletic teams, Football Moms, cheerleaders, local junior soccer and football teams, the Madison County Shriners Desert Patrol, Scouts, homecoming queen candidates and princesses, class floats, fire trucks, churches, and many other entries such as horses and classic cars. Last year’s parade included 130 units.

Another entry included in the parade again this year honors the Silver Anniversary team, managers, and trainers from the class of 1988-89. Senior members of that team under coach John Broughton were Tom Cox, Jeff Moore, Wes Cooper, Kevin Stevens, Mike Moore, Matt Shaffer, Jason Childers, Dean Huffman, Jason Hudson, Mark Philbert, Jeff Hexamer, Carey Robertson, Travis Welpott, Spencer Kinley, Courtney Cooter (manager), Robin Farris (manager) and Shelaine Neely (manager).

The marching Arabians will perform their pre-game show with the kick-off scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

The Arabian football team takes on the Delta Eagles with the winning float and the 2013 Homecoming Queen announced at halftime.

“The Greatest Homecoming on Earth” Dance will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $7 prior to Saturday and $10 the night of the event.
