ANDERSON — Staff and the Friends of Mounds State Park group invite volunteers to join them Saturday at 10 a.m. to help build a program area at the park. The new venue will be used to host weekly interpretive offerings during the summer and for special events throughout the spring and fall.
“We’re very excited about the addition of a program area,” said Jessica Rosier, interpretive naturalist at the park. “This needed space will be used by campers and folks from town as they attend our programs and learn about the unique features of Mounds State Park.”
The new program area will be located near the campground and feature a fire ring, table and benches. Volunteers will meet near the camp store at 10 a.m. Saturday. Guidance and tools will be provided. Volunteers should bring work gloves and be prepared to get dirty. Volunteers are welcome to work the entire day or just as long as they are able. The event falls on National Public Lands Day, which is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort.
