---- — St. Ambrose tamale sale Saturday

ANDERSON — The St. Ambrose Hispanic Group will host its tamale sale on Saturday from 12:30 to 5 p.m. in the church basement hall of St. Ambrose.

Cost is $12 for per dozen and must be pre-ordered.

Varieties include beef, bean, chicken, pork and vegetarian.

Owens speaker at bereavement group

ANDERSON — Grief counselor Connie Owens will present a program titled “What do I do About the Holidays?” at 7 p.m. Thursday for the Bereavement Support Ministry that meets monthly at Bethany Christian Church, 1920 N. Rangeline Road.

This session will be in the Fireside Room of the church. Enter through the north door across from Highland Middle School.

AHS Class of ‘53 meets Monday

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1953 and guests will meet for lunch at MCL cafeteria at the Mounds Mall the third Monday of each month.

This month’s meeting will be Nov. 18.

LifeStream hosts elder abuse workshops

YORKTOWN — Elder abuse awareness and adult protective services will be the topic of a series of workshops presented in early December by LifeStream Services, the local Aging and Disability Resource Center for East Central Indiana.

Learn the warning signs, risk factors, prevention and how to report elder abuse. In addition, information about legal services and the nursing home ombudsman programs will be shared.

The sessions, all of which are free and open to all interested, are planned for:

Dec. 4: Portland Place, 430 Lafayette, Portland, 10 a.m.

Dec. 4: Primrose Place, 1118 W. Cross St., Anderson, 4 p.m.

Dec. 9: Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, 4725 S. Colonial Oaks Drive, Marion, 2:30 p.m.

Comedy Night planned in Alex

ALEXANDRIA — The Studio Cafe, 416 E. Washington St., will host a Comedy Night beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.

Tickets are $5 and the comedy will include Gerry Gobel and Friends.

‘Thanksgiving’ dance on Sunday

ANDERSON — Square dancers are invited to a “Thanksgiving” dance on Sunday at Rangeline Community Center, 1405 N. Rangeline Road.

Caller will be Curt Braffett and the cuer is Bonnie Lawrence. Pre-rounds begin at 6 p.m. and square dancing from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

A food table will feature Thanksgiving dinner favorites.

The group dances the third and fifth Sunday of each month.

Hospital offers Better Breathers Club

ANDERSON — The Better Breathers Club is a support group for adults suffering from chronic lung disease, organized through the American Lung Association of Indiana. Club members attend monthly meetings to share experiences, knowledge, ideas and strengths. Meetings include expert speakers, video presentations and roundtable discussions.

The next Better Breathers meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. in the ballroom of the Paramount Theatre. The group will tour the Festival of Trees.

Anderson Soroptimists need your vote

ANDERSON — Soroptimist International of Anderson needs your vote. They have been chosen as a finalist in the Midwest Living Magazine’s “Dream - It, Do - It Community Challenge” for nonprofit groups. The finalist with the most votes will get a $5,000 grant for its project. The local club would use the grant money to purchase household items for their “Jump Start Home Store” at Alternative’s, Inc. Women transitioning out of Alternatives into their own housing could choose needed household items for the kitchen, bath, and bedroom from the “store” for their new home.
