Children of Promise hosts concert
ANDERSON — Children of Promise will host a benefit concert, featuring three local singing groups, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Park Place Church of God, 501 College Drive.
The 90-minute concert will feature the South Meridian Church of God Men’s Quartet, Blue River Valley Nazarene Church’s Passion for Christ and Chesterfield Community Church of God’s The Preacher & the Redhead.
Everyone is welcome to attend the free event. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. An offering will be taken to support Sponsorship to the Max: Offering the Cup, the Children of Promise Directors’ Training and Development Conference in June.
Valentine Banquet to be held Friday
ANDERSON — The annual Valentine Banquet of New Life Apostolic Church is planned for Friday at The Edge, 519 Golf Club Road in Edgewood. The banquet is a semiformal, red-and-black affair, open to anyone 18 years and older.
The event includes a banquet meal, photos, door prizes, and entertainment. Bill Isom, Muncie, will present a comedy routine. The Newlywed Game will be played with prizes awarded to the winners. Tickets are $25 for one and $45 for two and must be purchased in advance of the event. Call 623-1680 to purchase tickets.
CHA to offer free screenings
ANDERSON — Celebrate Valentine’s Day by caring for your heart on Friday, Feb. 15. Community Hospital Anderson will offer free cholesterol screenings in the Diabetes Care Center, located in the lower level of the 1601 building, on Community Anderson’s campus, from 6 to 9:30 a.m.
Screenings for peripheral artery disease (PAD) will also be offered for $20. Dietitians will be available to offer advice on healthy living. Hospital staff will also conduct free blood pressure checks. Door prizes will be given. Registration is required. Call 800-777-7775 to sign up. A 12-hour fast is recommended.
Quilt Guild to meet Wednesday
PENDLETON — The monthly meeting of Spring Valley Quilt Guild will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the Community Room at the Pendleton Library on Water Street. The guild activities survey distributed at the January meeting has been tabulated, and the results will be announced at this meeting.
Instructions for a fat quarter exchange to be held in March will also be a featured part of the program. Members are encouraged to bring Valentine-themed items for show-and-tell.
Members are reminded that 2013 membership dues are now payable.
Welcome Home dinner set for Friday
ANDERSON — The next Welcome Home free dinner served to veterans, active military and their families will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Anderson Church of the Brethren, 741 N. Scatterfield Road.

Willie Nelson to perform in Wabash
WABASH — Country legend Willie Nelson & Family will perform at the Honeywell Center on Tuesday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert will go on sale Feb. 12 at 8 a.m.
