ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — A compilation of community news as published in the Tuesday edition of The Herald Bulletin.

Book sale set for Friday, Saturday

ANDERSON —  The Friends of the Library will hold its monthly book sale from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Anderson Public Library, third-floor bookstore.

This month’s special markdowns include hardbound and paperback books. These books are available in a “dollar a bag” sale. Hardbound books are as low as 50 cents each and paperbacks are as low as 10 cents.

Proceeds are used to benefit programs of Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St.

Minnetrista hosts farmers market

MUNCIE — From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 16, Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie will host an indoor farmers market.

The market will be held the third Saturday of the month. Cooking demonstrations and a canning demonstration will take place during February’s market.

Library launches film club

NEW CASTLE — Gather with other film lovers at New Castle-Henry County Public Library’s Film Appreciation Club.

On Sunday, watch and discuss the merits of Stanley Kubrick’s “Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.” The group will meet in the library’s auditorium from 2 to 4 p.m.

This film discussion group is designed for ages 16 and above. Younger viewers may attend with a parent or guardian. Popcorn will be provided.

History Center seeks Lapel yearbooks

ANDERSON — One of the much sought items in the Madison County History Center’s Nicholson Memorial Library are high school annuals from the various schools in the county.

Needed are Lapel High School yearbooks for the following years: 1919, 1921 through 1929, 1931 through 1934, 1941, 1956, 1958, 1976, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1988 through 1991, and 1993 through 2012.

Drop them off any Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the center, 15 W. 11th St., in downtown Anderson.

Blue Man Group coming to Emens

MUNCIE — The Blue Man Group brings its high-octane theatrical experience at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, and Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Emens Auditorium at Ball State University.

The shows feature an explosion of comedy, music and technology. With no spoken language, it’s said to be perfect for people of all ages, languages and cultures. Tickets are available at or at the Emens Box Office.

Elmo and friends coming to Murat

INDIANAPOLIS — Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their Sesame Street friends are taking to the stage to share their love of music in Sesame Street Live “Elmo Makes Music” at Murat Theatre at Old National Centre from Friday, March 22, through Sunday, March 24.

Tickets are $13, $17 and $25. A limited number of $32 Gold Circle seats and $56 Sunny Seats are also available.
