Wadkins replaces Wilson on election board

ANDERSON — Former Democrat County Commissioner Paul Wilson, who was appointed to the Madison County Election Board earlier this year, was dismissed from that position last week.

He was replaced by County Democrat Chairwoman Ludy Watkins.

Wilson, who has worked hard over the past several months helping to develop a regional vote center proposal for the county, declined to comment on the reasons he was replaced.

Watkins also declined to comment on the reasons she replaced him.

Wilson seemed to be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable proponent of the concept, at one point calling it “the most expansive change in the voters’ opportunity to vote in 150 years in Madison County.”

Watkins, on the other hand, expressed tepid support for the idea on Thursday after attending a public hearing in Elwood on the proposal.
