With a foot of snow on the ground and sub-zero temperatures it’s a little hard to think about the racing season, but Daytona Speed weeks are a little over a month away.
Anderson Speedway opens on March 29 with a 75-lap feature for the NASH-FM Thunder Cars and the first visit of the year by the Champion Racing Association Late Model Sportsman division.
The speedway recently released the 2014 schedule with a good mix of traditional events and new features for the year.
The initial big weekend of the year will take place on April 26 with the CRA Super Series making the first of its two visits for a 125-lap feature followed the next day by the United State Speed Association’s Glen Niebel classic for pavement sprint cars.
The 66th running of the Pay Less Little 500 is set for May 24th with three days of racing action leading up to the event. The Must See Racing Winged Sprints will be in action on May 21 with two days of qualifying taking place on May 22 and May 23.
The Stoops Freightliner Red Bud 300 for the CRA Super Series will take place on June 14, earlier than in previous years with a 100-lap feature on Friday, June 13 for the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models and the CRA Sportsman.
A new event for 2014 is a 200-lap event for the Must See Racing Winged Sprints on Saturday Aug. 30. This should be an outstanding event and is sure to attract a lot of attention.

The ARCA Series will be visiting the Hoosier State four times this year, with a return to Lucas Oil Raceway on Friday, July 25, the weekend of the Brickyard 400.
The ARCA drivers will be at Salem Speedway on April 27 and again on Sept. 13 and will return to Winchester Speedway on July 6.
