First Presbyterian sets Maundy Thursday service

ANDERSON — First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Ninth St., presents its Maundy Thursday Service of Darkness at 7:30 p.m. April 17.

The Tenebrae service is a very moving and meaningful service, preparing hearts and minds for Easter Sunday.

The purpose of the service is to recreate the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of the events, and it is left unfinished, because the story isn’t over until Easter morning.

Bethesda Temple hosts Women's Day

ANDERSON — Bethesda Temple Church, 315 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., will host its annual Women's Day on Sunday.

At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Evangelist Freddie Whie.

The 4 p.m. speaker will be Evangelist Gloria Barnes of Berea Apostolic Church, Muncie.

"The Woman at the Well" is the topic.

The public is invited to attend.

Church Upon the Rock hosts worship workshop

ANDERSON — Church Upon the Rock, Women of Worship 3, The Worship Experience, Mind, Body and Soul, The Hosanna Experience will take place this week.

Today, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the workshop topic is "The Workshop Experience" with Evangelist Rennie Jackson, Chantel Clark and Lady Martha Woodall.

On Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., The Hosanna Experience, Evangelist Tina Baxter, Lady Joyce Harris, Evangelist Edwina Smith, Lady Sulyn Wilkerson and Praise Dancer-Sister Arnetta Peak-Randell.

Also appearing will be special guest therapist and doctor Susan Wallace, mental health therapist, St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital; and Dr. Regina Adair, OB/GYN, Community Hospital North, Indianapolis.

First Baptist Church to conduct special tenebrae service

ANDERSON — First Baptist Church of Anderson. 907 Raible Ave., will present a sacred Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. Sunday for the community.

The Temple Choir will perform, accompanied by Dr. Herbert Harris on the pipe organ and pianist Pam Weir. Dr. Michael Deutsch will offer a brief exclamation of the Seder Service, along with reading by David Cagley and Dr. Arthur Jaggard. Holy Communion will also be served.
