Bethel UMC to host VBS

ANDERSON — Bethel UM Church is offering a special Saturday-NoahDay Vacation Bible School on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All children ages 3 through fourth grade are welcome. Lunch will be provided. The church is located at the corner of 38th Street and Layton Road.

For pre-registration or for questions call the church at 643-5554 or arrive at 8:30 a.m. the morning of Vacation Bible School.

Punches Family in concert

ANDERSON — The Punches Family will be in concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Parkview Church of the Nazarene, 911 S. Rangeline Road.

The group from Frederick, Mo., has been singing bluegrass gospel music together for five years.

The Punches Family won first place in the Silver Dollar City's Youth & Bluegrass band contest in 2007 and Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America's Entertaining Group of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

A love offering will be received with a suggested donation of $10 per person. For more information, call 606-7062 or 643-5851.

Boggs to serve as guest pianist

ANDERSON — Hannah Boggs, Anderson University graduate and student of Dr. Randall J. Frieling, will be a guest at the piano Sunday at Central Christian Church, 10th and Jackson streets.

Holy Communion to be celebrated Sunday

GREENFIELD — St. Paul’s Anglican Reformed Episcopal Church will welcome the Rev. David Truax on Sunday with Holy Communion at 10:30 a.m. Visitors are welcome to come and speak with Truax regarding the Reformed Episcopal Church.

St. Paul’s is located at 20 W. South St., Greenfield, across from the fire station.

Imhof to speak at Soul Harbor service

MIDDLETOWN — Michael Imhof, retired U.S. Navy SEAL commander, will be the guest speaker during service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Soul Harbor, which is located off U.S. 38 at 2089 N. Raider Road, Middletown.

    Four months of planning was gone in about one minute on the Lapel football field Saturday as The River Church held its third annual Easter egg drop. Church pastor Tyson Priest found out more than 22,000 plastic eggs don’t last long when hundreds of local children are racing to pick them up as quickly as possible. But he didn’t seem to mind.

The soon-to-be grandmother wasn’t totally sure what to do or who to talk to. At one point, she felt herself start to slip into depression. Nearly three years later, she’s trying to make sure other Madison County grandparents won’t feel the same way.

  • NWS - HB0408 - Crash Sperrys 2 Family, friends bid farewell to Jesse Sperry

    The fussing of 10-day-old Autumn Marie Sperry seemed to coincide with the beginning of the funeral service for her father, Jesse Sperry, whose body rested just a few feet away. More than 200 friends and family members gathered at Edgewood Baptist Church this afternoon to pay their respects to Jesse, who was killed April 6 in a traffic accident on Indiana 32.
