Church News: July 20

Healing service planned

DALEVILLE — The elders of Daleville Christian Church have planned a Healing Service for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Anyone seeking prayer (anointing also offered) for healing is encouraged to come and receive. Bring friends or acquaintances in need of healing or with health issues.

VBS begins July 28

DALEVILLE — Vacation Bible School at Trinity Community Church, 13801 W. Main St., begins Sunday, July 28, through Wednesday, July 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for children ages 4 through sixth grade.

There will be Bible lessons, games, music, snacks and more.

This year's theme is "Turned Around." For more information call 378-3634.

Summer music services continue

ANDERSON — Anderson First United Methodist Church invites the community to a continuation of its summer music services at 9 a.m. Sunday at Davis Park, Indiana 32 and Layton Road. This week's worship will be led by The Director's Jazz Orchestra, featuring many of the Madison County schools' music teachers. In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the church's downtown sanctuary at 12th and Jackson streets.

Santiago guest speaker at The Cross

ANDERSON — Madison County Detention Center Chaplain Benny Santiago will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday at The Cross Church, 1521 E. 18th St.

Motorcycle ministry commissioning ceremony July 28

ALEXANDRIA — F.A.I.T. H. Riders Motorcycle Ministry Commissioning Ceremony is planned at 11 a.m. July 28 at Calvary Baptist Chapel, 202 W. Tyler St., Alexandria.

Buddy Newsome, F.A.I.T.H Riders national director of Lakeland, Fla., will conduct the commissioning.

This ceremony explains what F.A.I.T.H. riders and how this ministry works. The group's mission statement is a motorcycle ministry passionate about sharing Christ with the world.

There will be a ride to follow, leaving from the church, kickstands up at about 12:30 p.m. with a ride to Golden Corral in Anderson for lunch. For questions, call Louis Tolston 317-430-5180.

    The fussing of 10-day-old Autumn Marie Sperry seemed to coincide with the beginning of the funeral service for her father, Jesse Sperry, whose body rested just a few feet away. More than 200 friends and family members gathered at Edgewood Baptist Church this afternoon to pay their respects to Jesse, who was killed April 6 in a traffic accident on Indiana 32.
