The Herald Bulletin

---- — INDIANAPOLIS — The Pastoral Care Department of St.Vincent is recruiting candidates for its 2013-2014 Stephen Ministry Training Program.

Stephen Ministry is an international organization that trains adults to volunteer as caring ministers. At St.Vincent, Stephen Ministers are specially trained to visit with patients and offer spiritual and personal support.

Candidates enrolled in the St.Vincent Stephen Ministry Program receive more than 50 hours of training over a six-month period taught by local Stephen Minister leaders. The training prepares future Stephen Ministers to care for patients and their families by listening, visiting and praying.

Following training, participants commit to a minimum of two years of volunteering, approximately three hours a week, with time out for vacations and other personal time.
