Church News: April 19

East Lynn celebrates Easter

ANDERSON — East Lynn Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 522 E. 53rd St., will celebrate Easter beginning with a sunrise service at 7:30 a.m., led by the youth group and Laura Gordon. It will be followed by an Easter breakfast at 8:30 a.m., prepared by members of the Diaconate.

The Easter Worship Service will begin at 10:30 a.m.; the Chancel Choir will sing "Up From the Grave," and the Rev. Susan M. Cameron, senior minister, will deliver the sermon, "All Shook Up."

Two services at Florida Station

ANDERSON — Florida Station Church of God, 1045 W. 375 N., will begin its Easter celebration at 9 a.m. with praise and worship and the spoken message by Pastor Jerry.

There will also be a 10:30 a.m. worship program with worship experience and presentation.

Bethel presents Easter play

LAPEL — Bethel Baptist Church, 3308 S. Indiana 13, Lapel, will have two performances of "It is Finished! Message of the Cross!" This play depicts the sacrifice that Jesus so willingly suffered for our salvation.

Performance times are 6 p.m. this evening and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

First Presbyterian choirs perform

ANDERSON — First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. 9th St., will celebrate Easter Sunday at 10:20 a.m. The Rev. Kevin Bausman will be preaching on “He is Risen! Three Tremendous Words”, and our Chancel Bells, organ and Mehola choir will lead the congregation in "Christ the Lord is Risen Today!" Our Chancel Bells will ring "Because He Lives" as the offertory, and Ella Carson will lead the Kidz Time.

Son Rise service set at Cross Roads

ANDERSON — Cross Roads United Methodist Church will have a Son Rise Service at 7:30 a.m. in the shelter house on the church grounds Easter Sunday. Early Easter worship will be held at 8:30 followed by a pitch-in Easter Breakfast at 9:30 in the fellowship hall.

During the 10:30 worship service the choir will be singing and there will be an Easter drama. Pastor John Hackney will be delivering the Easter sermon "Triumphant over Death."

  • JamFest set for Aug. 3 at Christ Lutheran Christ Lutheran Church, 2751 N. Scatterfield Road, will host JamFest from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3.

    Nine-year-old Skylar King was not a volunteer or even a member of Greater Light Church, which Saturday gave away free school supplies, clothing and food during its annual Greater Light Gives Back event. The boy had played games to win tokens, and then he used them to buy each binder, saying he was giving his prizes away because he wanted to help other people.
