Church honors minister, wife
ANDERSON — On Sunday, Oct. 6, Sherman Street Church of God, 1925 Sherman St., Anderson, will celebrate its pastor and wife, the Rev. Ragen Brevard and wife, Angela Mitchell's three-year anniversary.
Pastor Mitchell not only serves this congregation, but is also very active in the Anderson community.
The speaker for the 10 a.m. worship service will be the Rev. Howard K. Hammond, from Upper Marlboro, Md.
Missionaries speak at Cross Roads
ANDERSON — Missionaries Bill and Cassie Bausom, from Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church, and now serving with John Enright at the Kafakumba Center in Zambia, Africa, will share about their ministry at the 8:30 and 10:30 am. Worship Services at Cross Roads United Methodist Church Sunday. They will be showing pictures during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour.
Churches partner for Fall VBS
SHIRLEY — Five local area churches of five different denominations are coming together to offer a three-day, cooperative Vacation Bible School during school fall break with free games, free meals, crafts, Bible stories, music and crafts. The school will be at the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church in Shirley.
The event will be Oct. 8-9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for children ages pre-school through sixth grade and will begin each evening with a free meal.
There is no charge but, a voluntary free will offering for the Shirley community food pantry will be received.
The VBS is sponsored by: Shirley Friends Church, Shirley Church of the Nazarene, Righteous Oaks Baptist Church of Wilkinson, Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church and Grant City Wesleyan Church VBS Co-Directors are Rev. Jenny Charles, Shirley UMC pastor and Rev. Teresa Hester.

Worship series for children begins
ANDERSON — Anderson First Church of the Nazarene recently began a worship series for children in grades 1 through six titled "Faith, Love, and Ducks: Life Lessons for Kids from Duck Dynasty" The series runs for six weeks on Sunday mornings during the 10:30 a.m. service.
