1 p.m. UPDATE: Anderson boys basketball postponed

A winter storm on Thursday set off a chain reaction that will affect Friday night’s boys basketball schedule. Delays and cancellations caused some games to be postponed, while others will proceed as planned.

Anderson High School was set to play Richmond at 8 p.m. until that school canceled classes for the day due to inclement weather. Anderson Athletics Director Steve Schindler said the game has been postponed until Feb. 12.

“We just got a call from Richmond, we’re going to go ahead and cancel the game due to the weather situation they’ve had in Richmond,” he said.

Meanwhile, a game between Alexandria and Madison-Grant has been pushed back to Saturday. The girls basketball teams were already scheduled to play and will begin at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.

Elwood postponed its 7:30 p.m. home game against Greentown’s Eastern High School until Feb. 12 after Eastern canceled classes for the day.

Five other games on the schedule will proceed as planned. Highland will play at Shenandoah (7:30 p.m.), Pendleton Heights will play at Yorktown (7:30 p.m.), Frankton will host Mississinewa (7:30 p.m.), Lapel will play at Mount Vernon (7:30 p.m.) and Daleville will host Randolph Southern (8 p.m.).
