MIDDLETOWN — Sean Collins and Ben Cronk each had two hits and Nick Burke produced three RBIs for Pendleton Heights in its 8-2 baseball victory over Shenandoah on Monday.
Nate Frazier picked up the win for Pendleton Heights, which improved to 9-3.
Junior shortstop Luke Hamm of Shenandoah had two of the Raiders’ six hits.
Alexandria 5, Tipton 4
The visiting Tigers produced three runs in the top of the seventh inning for the come-from-behind victory.
Alexandria pitcher Jordan Baker struck out six and allowed four hits, while teammate Drew Overman came through with three hits. Sophomore Zach Yeagy delivered a solo home run for the Tigers.
Madison-Grant 31, Lakeview Christian 0
The Argylls steamrolled the Lions with 18 hits, while Neal Stephens threw a three-hit shutout that included 11 strikeouts.
Jacob Morrical came through with five hits and as many RBIs for M-G. Skyler Nolder had three hits and drove in four runs.
Liberty Christian 8, Howe 6
Josh Freeman delivered two hits for the host Lions, who also received outstanding pitching from senior Tim Zeigler with 12 strikeouts. Joe Huff had two RBI for Liberty Christian.
SOFTBALL
Elwood 10, Tri-Central 0
The visiting Panthers blanked the Trojans, with Carley Cory striking out six and giving up two walks to pick up the win.
At the plate, Elwood received three hits from the bat of Paige Hanlin and two courtesy of Brittney McPhearson.
Pendleton Heights 7, New Palestine 6
Seniors Stephanie Robinson and Casey Jamerson delivered four and three hits, respectively to lead the visiting and Class 4A No. 1 Arabians.
Lindsey Beisser picked up the win on the mound. Ashley Warrum and Tiffany Held both belted a pair of hits.
The Arabians improved to 12-3.
Alexandria 8, Eastern Hancock 2
Sarah Almack permitted five Royals hits and struck out 11 to lead the host Tigers, who were fueled by a five-run third inning.
Hitting heroes for Alexandria were Molly DiRuzza with three, including a triple, and Erin England with two hits and three runs driven in.
Liberty Christian 2, Hagerstown 1
Winning pitcher Karon Earley struck out 11 Hagerstown batters to lead the host Lions. Earley also generated two hits, and the winning run came off a bases-loaded walk to Lauryn Russell.
Shenandoah 25, Tri 0
A 17-run third inning enabled the visiting Raiders to coast home with their fourth victory of the season.
Kasey Short led Shenandoah hitting with four of her own. Short also scored four times and drove in two. Kara Chiamis belted two doubles in the win.
Daleville 2, Yorktown 0
Whitney Curts and Kristen Church combined to pitch the shutout for visiting Daleville. Church also contributed a hit and RBI.
Girls tennis
Pendleton Heights 3, Lapel 2
The Arabians used victories by Bess Pluhar at No. 3 singles and the doubles combinations of Lindsey McIntire and Alison Blake and Leah Acres and Lauren Dawson to pick up the win.
Lapel’s winners were Jill Gentry at No. 1 singles and JoJo Gentry at No. 2 singles.
Alexandria 4, Westfield 1
The Tigers upped their season record to 7-2 by defeating the Shamrocks.
Alexandria swept singles competition behind the play of Melissa Montgomery, Abbe Cox and Bri Foster. The doubles tandem of Rebecca Payton and Megan Wright also was victorious.
Shenandoah 4, Northeastern 1
Lauren Wilson, Mariah Smith and Kelly Ray all posted straight-set triumphs in singles for the Raiders, while the No. 2 doubles team of Brittany Webber and Emily Veter notched Shenandoah’s other point.
Boys golf
Knightstown 181, Eastern Hancock 198, Liberty Christian 240
The Panthers won the three-way meet at Anderson Country Club, but Alex Stinson of Liberty Christian emerged as the medalist with a nine-hole score of 40.
Lapel 163, Daleville 232, Wes-Del 227
Lapel’s Brock Forrer came through with a 38 for medalist honors as the Bulldogs cruised to victory at Muncie Elks.
Dylan Crosley fired a 40, John Hettinga a 42 and Brodie Williams and Seth Bays 43 and 44, respectively, for the Bulldogs. Daleville’s Dave Clark carded a 39.
