PORTLAND — Highland’s boys track and field team completed the regular season undefeated with Friday’s OIympic Conference meet at Jay County
The Scots finished with 206 points to defeat Muncie South’s 154.5. The host Patriots were third, and Connersville was fourth.
Highland had six individual champs, including Jamie Mallory (100-meter dash, 11.3 seconds), Sam Nunn (200, 23.7), D.J. Taylor (3,200, 10:02), Lawrence Cotton (high jump, 6-1), Jay Mohr (long jump, 20-7) and Kerry Detienne (shot put, 46-6). The Scots’ 400 relay team of Mohr, Nunn, Mallory and Maurice Hall also won in 44.3 seconds.
Second-place finishers included Hall (200), Blane Crouse (800), Mason Webb (1,600), Trey Messer (110 high hurdles), Tyler Moore (high jump), Matt Sieg (discus) and the 3,200 relay.
Highland’s boys went 6-0-1 in duals and all five invitationals. The girls results were not available at press time.
Softball
Alexandria 10, Oak Hill 0
The visiting Tigers scored all of their runs in the first three innings of the five-inning Central Indiana Conference victory.
Kylie Bischof and Erin Overman each had two hits for Alexandria (14-8, 4-1 CIC). Emalee Wyatt added a double.
Baseball
Madison-Grant 9, Mississinewa 2
The Argylls used a seven-run sixth inning and strong pitching by Austin Lee to cruise to a CIC win.
Lee scattered five hits in a complete-game effort as M-G improved to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Nate Hiatt went 2-for-3 with a home run and Andrew Stroup was 2-for-4 with a double, while Shawn Smith also homered for the Argylls.
