From Staff Reports

ANDERSON — USAC’s Open Wheel Extravaganzas continue today at Anderson Speedway, showcasing participants in three USAC racing series.

The Regional, Kenyon and Indiana Ford Focus Midgets each face a 30-lap feature on the 1/4-mile paved oval, where USAC’s history dates all the way back to 1961. when A.J. Foyt won the first race.

There has been three years of increased “regional” activity at Anderson, and today’s races are a continuation of what has become a very competitive series of events.

Chris Windom, NASCAR Nationwide competitor Bryan Clauson and James Robertson have won Regional Midget features already this year although Travis Young of Franklin leads the standings. Young has finished second, fifth and eighth in the three Anderson races this season.

Mike Terry Jr., Drew Charlson (twice) and Jeff Wimmenauer have 2008 Kenyon Midget wins at Anderson and Charlson, of New Bremen, Ohio, has a healthy lead in the standings as a result.

In the Ford Focus Midgets, the 2008 Anderson winners have been series point leader Kyle Hamilton, Steve Matthews and Alison MacLeod.

A MacLeod victory today would make MacLeod USAC’s winningest female driver ever. She currently has five career wins, tying her with Stephanie Mockler and Audra Sasselli.
