ANDERSON — Class 2A No. 6 Alexandria and Highland needed all five games in their volleyball match at Bob Fuller Gymnasium on Tuesday. Even that wasn’t enough, as the final match went to a 20-18 finish, with Alexandria prevailing in five games to beat the Scots in the season opener for both squads.

Alexandria won the first and third games by identical 25-18 scores. The Scots downed the Tigers in the second and fourth games of the match by scores of 25-19 and 25-22, respectively.

For the Tigers, Lauren Miller had 18 kills.

For the Scots, Jarah Ice led with 10 kills and four solo blocks. Emily Jones added eight kills and five solo blocks. Katie Lee distributed 26 assists, while Jessica Lark had five kills and three solo blocks.

Alexandria (1-0) plays at 6 p.m. today against Shenandoah.

Highland (0-1) hosts Liberty Christian on Thursday at 6 p.m.
