Buck returns to AU as football assistant

ANDERSON — Anderson University hired former Ravens football player and alum Toby Buck as an assistant coach on the football coaching staff on Wednesday.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity to be back here and at this level," said Buck. "I have a heart for this place, and this is my third stop here. I've been at the high school level, and there are limits there, and this level of competition is more in depth."

Buck has previously been on the AU football coaching staff on three occasions, starting as a graduate assistant in 1987. He also coached defensive backs from 1990-95 and was the defensive coordinator in 2007.

He has also coached at Highland High School (2004-06, 2008-10) and Pendleton Heights (2011) in previous years.

Buck graduated from Anderson University in 1987 after playing for four years on the AU football team. He earned his bachelor's degree in management. He is originally from Anderson, where he went to Highland High School and played on the football team, ran track and was on the swimming team.

He founded Exit 22 Partners, LLC in 2011 and has previously been the owner of Anderson PowerSports. He is active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Bridge Church Fellowship.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know the players and establish relationships," said Buck. "One of my goals is to reach out to the alumni and establish a connection with them and make them feel like they are a part of the AU football program."

Buck has been married to Amy Williams for the past 25 years and has four children: Sarah, Rachel, Levi and Mack. He resides in Pendleton.
