To protect against the risk of bad weather this early in the spring, the track will have an abbreviated schedule for the first two weeks. This weekend the racing will be just today and Saturday. Next week, racing will be held Thursday through Saturday. For the rest of the meet it will be Tuesday through Saturday.
Live harness racing continues through Nov. 15.
There are other changes as well. There are stations where patrons can watch races from a variety of tracks and place wagers without leaving their seats. Plush theater-style seating has been added in the grandstand. A new car powers the starting gate around the track. Thirteen suites have been added to the area near the stage and just north of it that feature a TV, a couch, a table and some chairs for casual enjoyment of the racing. Those suites are available by reservation.
The menus in the restaurants have been changed and will likely change again three or four times during the meet.
"I just couldn't be more excited to get started," said Moore. "It's been a long, hard winter and we're ready to go racing."
