CRA Late Model Sportsman close out June at Anderson Speedway

ANDERSON – Anderson Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday with Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman Series powered by JEGS, WMDH ThunderCars, Thunder Roadsters and Front Wheel Drives Oval.

For Trey Craig, the third time proved to be the charm as he finally passed Josh Cave with 12 laps remaining to win the CRA Late Model Sportsman event May 11. K.C. Spillers came home in second position followed by Mark Lambert and Rob Allman.

Most-recent feature winner Rob Allman sits atop the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models point standings with Ronnie Rose in second position and Jeff Williams completing the top-three performers. Ronnie Phipps and Jeff Marcum round out the top five.

Curtis Chapman continues to be perfect in the WMDH ThunderCar division scoring feature victories in each of the opening five events. He holds an 88-point advantage over Trent Gossar with Tom Gossar ranked in third position. Rob Allman and Austin Russell complete the top five in the standings.

The closest points battle at Anderson Speedway is taking place in the Front Wheel Drive Oval division. Heading into Saturday’s event, Paul Phipps leads Elliott McKinney by just 10 points. The remainder of the top five includes Trevin Henson, Austin McKinney and the hard-charging Jerry Dane.

The Thunder Roadsters will do battle for the third occasion this season at Anderson. Feature victories have been claimed by James Edsell and Marty Griffin.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
