Nadaline three shots back in state

ANDERSON, Ind. — Anderson High School senior Morgan Nadaline shot a 75 on Thursday at the IWGA State Amateur Championship at Harbor Trees Golf Club in Noblesville.

Nadaline carded as 70 in round one and the 75 gives her a 145 total, which is 3 over and three shots off the lead in a tie for sixth. The tournament leader at even par is Noblesville's Emily Podzielinski.

The AHS golf had one bad stretch of three holes on the front nine. She had a bogey at No. 6, a double bogey at No. 7 and a bogey at No. 8. The rest of the course she played in even par. She had two more bogeys and a pair of birdies, getting those at the par-5 No. 2 and the par-3 No. 18.

Nadaline will tee off today at 9:57 a.m. on hole No. 1 with Amy Thompson of Wakarusa and Brooke Beegle of Fishers.

The tournament concludes with 18 more holes of stroke play Friday.

Contrary to popular belief, sometimes numbers do lie. Logan Weins surrendered nine hits and seven runs in the final start of his high school career — a sectional championship loss against Class 2A state champion Wapahani — and nobody argues those figures. But they don't tell the whole story.
