Elwood baseball blanks Eagles

FRANKTON — The Elwood baseball team scored a big Central Indiana Conference win against Frankton, taking the victory 5-0.

Senior Jared Bourf threw for the Panthers and limited the Eagles to no runs.

Frankton’s field errors may have contributed to the defeat. Frankton pitcher Logan Weins pitched into the sixth inning and was relieved by Bryce Mallord.

Frankton (2-5) faces Lapel today. Elwood (5-4) travels to Tri today.

Elwood nips Tigers in softball 4-2

ELWOOD — Freshman Mackenzie Bryan led the Lady Panthers on the mound striking out nine and taking the win against Alexandria 4-2.

Panther offense ignited after Katelyn Leisure sent a ball over the fence to put the first run on the board in the second inning. Haley Jetty was the next to add runs after hitting a double to drive in two runs.

Alexandria was scoreless going into the sixth inning but senior Taylor Jennings came through hitting a double to plate two runs.

Alexandria will travel to Wapahani on Saturday for a double-header. Elwood (7-1) travels to Hamilton Heights today.
