Arabians netters remain perfect

PENDLETON — At No.1 singles, Pendleton Heights’ Emma McCardwell continues to roll past anyone who stands in her way.

McCardwell put a 6-0, 6-0 defeat on Bri Ayers of Shelbyville as the Arabians pushed past the Golden Bears 4-1 Friday night.

As has been the PH habit, it won all three singles matches. The fourth point came at No. 1 doubles where Audrey and Kayleigh Corn turned back Cortney Pearce and Leigh Durphey 6-0, 6-0.

The Arabians are not only unbeaten in conference play (2-0) but also on the season (8-0). The team gets the weekend off before returning to action at home on Monday against Lapel.

Eagles bounce back against Argylls

FAIRMOUNT — Frankton bounced back from a tough loss Thursday by sweeping the singles matches on its way to a 4-1 victory over Madison-Grant.

At No. 1 singles Alexys Rastetter topped Kayla Blair 6-2, 6-1. Next, Lucy Browning downed Ciara Vetor and Sydney Wagoner was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Olivia Crouse.

The Eagles are 4-2 and visit Elwood on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

Broncos doomed by errors in loss

DALEVILLE — Daleville had five errors that led to four unearned runs and that was the margin of defeat against Bellmont.

The Broncos also had none of their five hits go for extra bases. Corbin Maddox suffered the defeat. TJ Price, Gavin Whitmore, Elliott Jackson, Maddox and Chris Kinnick had Daleville’s singles.

Daleville drops to 5-4 on the season and will next play today at Muncie Burris in a double-header.
