Ravens fall one run short

RICHMOND — The Anderson University baseball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Earlham College 5-4 on Friday at Don Brandon Field.

The Ravens led 4-3 after seven innings, but Earlham got one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth inning to earn the come-from-behind victory. The Ravens scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning.

Cole Heberling led the Raven offense with two doubles and two RBIs and Connor Morris added a hit and two RBIs. Earlham outhit the Ravens 8-7 in the contest.

Starter Nolan Schaefer lost his bid to improve to 8-0 on the season, earning a no-decision. The senior went seven innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out eight.

Nick Nunez took the loss, giving up two hits and one earned run while striking out three.

AU (23-13, 15-8 HCAC) hosts Earlham on Saturday for Senior Day at noon.
