Spring championships set at Anderson Speedway

ANDERSON, Ind. — Anderson Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday with the Spring Championships for the MEP Late Models, Street Stocks, WMDH ThunderCars and Front Wheel Drive Figure 8s.

The MEP Late Models will make their third appearance of the 2013 season. Victories have been claimed by Keith Sterkowitz and Danny Trent. In the season standings, Rob Allman leads Sterkowitz by four points with Jeff Williams in third position. Ronnie Rose and Ronnie Phipps round out the top five.

Tyler Marsh paces the Street Stock standings with a seven-point margin over Calvin Parham. Third is Joe Pulley with Danny Adams and opening night winner Jake McEflresh completing the top five.

An impressive start to the WMDH ThunderCar season has placed Curtis Chapman in the first position. He won the non-points ThunderCar 100 in March and then scored the opener in the WMDH ThunderCars. Second is Trent Gossar with Rob Allman in third spot. Fourth is Chris Snyder with Jeff Hopkins ranked in fifth.

Kevin Henson sits atop the Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 standings with an 11-point advantage over Elliott McKinney. Other early season challengers include Mark Allman, Jerry Swinford and Jamie Valentine.

On Saturday, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
