AU softball drops 2 in Florida

KISSISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Anderson University softball team dropped its first two games of the season on Saturday at the Osceola County Softball Complex. The Ravens lost to Mount Union 1-0 and Coast Guard 4-3.

Against Mount Union, the Ravens were no-hit and shutout for just the second time in the last 48 games. The only other shutout in the last two seasons was against defending national champion Linfield last year in the Div. III NCAA tournament.

Against Coast Guard, Megan Ream led the Ravens with two hits and a stolen base.

Natalie Moorhouse had a two-run homer, and freshman Sami Frazier homered in first career at-bat.

Coast Guard scored all four runs in the first two innings and outhit the Ravens 10-7 in the game. AU was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Freshman Hannah Belvo took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs in five innings while striking out two. Lauren Smith tossed the final two innings and didn’t allow a hit, striking out four.
