Rick Teverbaugh: Sports fan ready for NBA, NHL

I will be experiencing my first Pacers season without her. It will be a daunting task. I hope she has a good seat to the games.

On a much more positive note, congrats go out to the Pendleton Heights Arabians girls cross country team for an extremely strong third-place finish at the New Haven Semistate. Also a big hand goes out to Alex Buck, who was second individually for the Arabians.

This is a huge barrier to cross for the program and head coach Melissa Hagerman.

I wish them the best of luck in Terre Haute at next week’s state meet. We are already making coverage plans.

One final brightener, girls basketball practice will begin Monday. The boys will be a couple of weeks after that, and before Thanksgiving both of those sports will be underway. Throw boys and girls swimming and wrestling into the melting pot, and we have another great winter sports stew to savor.

Sports Editor Rick Teverbaugh’s columns appear twice weekly.
