CRA announces 2014 Super Series schedule

Red Bud 400 set for June 14

The Champion Racing Association Super Series will be contesting seven races during the 2014 season in the Hoosier State.

The series announced their schedule last week with visits to Anderson, Winchester, Lucas Oil and Illiana speedways.

CRA drivers will be making their first Indiana visit on April 26 at Anderson Speedway and on June 14 with the running of the Stoops Freightliner Red Bud 300.

The Red Bud 300 will be contested on a new date, in the past few years the race has taken place in July just before the Sprint Cup series races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The late model season kicks-off on January 26 at the Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA. for Speedfest. There has been a change in the rules for the 200-lap race with caution laps counting for the first 175 circuits.

The JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour will be competing in Georgia for a 125-lap event with caution laps counting for the first 100 circuits.

That is a rule change that should be gladly accepted by the race fans and teams after last year’s marathon events as a result of numerous caution periods.

The Super Series will be at Winchester Speedway for the traditional Labor Day event and the Winchester 400 is set for Oct. 12. The series will be visiting Lucas Oil Raceway on July 25, the Friday before the Brickyard and on Sept. 28. The series returns to Illiana Motor Speedway on Memorial Day, May 26.

The series will be a part of the Kalamazoo Klash on Aug. 13 along with the Outlaw Super Late Models.

The Battle of Berlin (Raceway) will take place on July 19 and will be a 251 lap event.

The Red Bud 300, Berlin 251 and the Winchester 400 comprise the “Triple Crown” for the series and this year up for grabs was a $100,000 bonus sponsored by JEGS if one driver could win the three races. Champion Johnny VanDoorn won the Red Bud and Berlin races.
