And then there was yet another. Another week and another perfect game. Only this time, it wasn’t a man and it wasn’t a youth, this time it was a female.
Tia Buckner rolled her first 300 game in the TNT league on Monday night at Cooper’s Sport Bowl. Buckner and her husband, Ryan, were matching each other strike for strike during the second game of the night.
Yes, competitiveness is a natural trait in the family. Tia carried it all the way out, while Ryan left a nine count on the 11th ball to finish with a 289 game. While both games are worthy of print, this time the female gets the win.
Females and perfect games are not a common theme in the bowling world. While doing some research, I found that there have only been a handful of 300 games rolled by women in the area. Not only is that elusive 300 game hard to come by for any gender, but on the female side, it is heard of even less.
Congratulations, Tia on a perfect game and for joining such an elite group of women in the area’s bowling world.
The Buckner name goes hand in hand with bowling in this area. Tia’s husband Ryan shot a perfect game earlier this season and her father-in-law, Terry, rolled his own a few weeks back. Only it doesn’t stop there. There is also a brother-in-law, cousins, uncles and just about every type of family member possible that bowls and is considered some of the area’s best.
Tia is one of the area’s better women bowlers in her own right so marrying into the Buckner family is just a natural fit.
High school bowling will be held tonight at Cooper’s Sport Bowl. Both the girl’s and boy’s will be in the same house starting at 5.
