Miller had outstanding career

Alexandria product Lauren Miller certainly made the right decision when she selected Franklin Pierce University for her collegiate volleyball home.

Miller had an excellent ride for the Ravens during her tenure, both in terms of team accomplishments and individual honors.

She twice was on a team that made it to the NCAA Tournament. Then she had three occasions to be singled out for individual recognition.

"My experience has been so amazing," said Miller. "I have met incredible people that have pushed, inspired, and led me to the opportunities that I have had and am still chasing. Going to a small school, mostly everyone that has been apart of my experience have been involved with both academics and athletics. I will always remember the people and experiences at Franklin Pierce because they have shaped who I am and who I want to be."

Franklin Pierce lost to No. 2-seeded LIU Post 25-19, 25-23, 25-18. Miller averaged seven digs per set in that match to give a great account of herself on a big stage.

"The NCAA tournament was such a wonderful experience," said Miller. "Playing against the best players in the nation as well as being in the top 64 of the nation was truly an amazing accomplishment. Franklin Pierce volleyball had never made it to the tournament before so it was great to know how much myself as well as all my teammates impacted the program."

Miller was named All-East Region Honorable Mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. She also was named Daktronics All-East Region First Team and was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Co-Libero of the Year.

"Knowing that I leave my name in history with the school and conference means a great deal to me," said Miller. "I worked extremely hard and to even be nominated for the award was rewarding. I can't describe my happiness after I found out I had been named."
