Angie Colip: Bowling week filled with perfection

Congratulations to Trent Jarvis for rolling two perfect games in eight days. Jarvis shot his 19th perfect game in the TNT league on March 31. He finished out his night with a 784 series.

On Tuesday, Jarvis rolled his 20th game of perfection in the Charlie Cooper Memorial league. He started the night off with a 278 game and followed that with his 300 game. During the third and final game, Jarvis was in the pocket, but the strikes became more elusive and his carry wasn’t quite what it was. Every frame was either a strike or a nine count spare, but he couldn’t put a string of strikes together. He finished the night with an impressive 777 series.

As I was entering the week’s scores last weekend, I came across Jarvis’ 300 game. Well, I missed that one, I’ll make sure to get it in this week. Then Tuesday’s came along, and it was karma. I needed to wait and make it a two-for-one event. Congratulations, Trent, on a job well done.

Jarvis wasn’t the only one to find perfection this week. On Monday in the TNBA league, Michael Head shot a 300 game. He finished his set with a 725 series. This was Head’s third career perfect game.

A 300 game for an individual is a rarity, and multiple perfect games come few and far between. There are many good bowlers out there who have never been able to capture the taste of perfection. For those who have, enjoy and cherish the moment. It’s a memory to last a lifetime. For those who are still chasing the ultimate game, keep striving. You never know when the stars will align and the night will be yours.

Spring has finally decided to make an appearance. And with that also comes the end of the winter bowling season. Almost all leagues will be wrapped up by the end of the month. Although a few will carry into May, as this winter took its toll and caused cancellations. Therefore, some leagues have been extended by two and three weeks.
