Anderson Speedway plans busy weekend

What’s your pleasure?, will be a theme when it comes to racing this weekend in central Indiana with notable events at both Anderson and Winchester Speedways.

Anderson Speedway will be celebrating July 4 with a 50-lap feature for the outlaw figure-8 series and the Front Wheel Drive Division with action in the crossover and the Tom Raper RV Trailer Race.

If the previous visit of the outlaw figure-8 series is any indication of what is in store there should be plenty of action at the “X”.

Jeff Shackleford won the inaugural race for the Winged Outlaw Figure-8 series in April at the track.

Racing starts at 7 p.m. with the traditional fireworks show topping off the night.

The CRA Late Model Sportsman and McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models highlight the Saturday racing card with a 75-lap feature. Teenager Jack Dossey is leading the point standings with another teenager Chris Hacker in the chase for the championship.

Daleville’s Greg VanAlst, who scored his first feature win in 17 years of racing, should be a threat for another victory. VanAlst, Hacker and Danny Trent have all recorded CRA Sportsman Late Model wins at Anderson Speedway this year.

Other local drivers expected to contend for the win are Alexandria’s Kent Baledge, Muncie’s J.P. Crabtree, NewCastle’s Jason Atkinso, Indianapolis driver Billy VanMeter along with Trey Craig and Jeff Marcum.

Racing starts at 8 p.m.

Winchester Speedway is playing host to the ARCA traveling series on Sunday starting at 2 p.m.

Grant Enfinger will be looking for his fifth win of the season, but there are plenty of drivers looking to win on the high-banked half-mile.

The entry list includes multi-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel, Ken Schrader, Kyle Benjamin, Cody Coughlin, Anderson Bowen and Mason Mitchell.

Action at Winchester Speedway begins on Friday with winged sprint cars in action and on Saturday with the Top Speed Modifieds.
