State police: Crashes close I-65 near Lafayette

The Associated Press

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana State Police say they have Interstate 65 near Lafayette is closed in both directions because of multiple crashes.

State police say fire and rescue personnel are at the scene of multiple vehicle crashes on the northbound side of I-65 near mile marker 174, which is near the State Road 25 exit. Police say both north and southbound I-65 are closed between the 175 exit and the 172 exit and say drivers should seek alternate routes of travel.

State police say the southbound lanes should reopen after the emergency equipment is through. They don’t have an estimate of when the northbound lanes will open.
