Police: Muncie officer shoots man who strangled him

The Associated Press

MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie police say an officer shot and wounded a man who allegedly began strangling him after officers pulled his car over following a fight outside a nightclub.

Police say 32-year-old Bryan William Modglin was in stable condition Sunday at a Muncie hospital.

Police responding to a fight early Sunday outside Kruzzers Night Club determined Modglin was a suspect in that fight and had fled the scene.

Muncie police Chief Steve Stewart says in a statement that Modglin allegedly attacked two police officers when they pulled his car over nearby and pinned one officer against a fence and began strangling him. That officer shot Modglin, who's expected to face strangulation and battery to police charges.

Both officers were treated at a Muncie hospital for injuries.
