Tipton farmers donate $10,000 to food pantry

'Hoppers for Hungry' program in second year

(Continued)

Melinda Goodnight, director of the Encore Life Center, said earlier this year the donation from the Young Farmers will help a lot of needy families in the Tipton community.

“With the Food Stamp program being cut, I think it will increase the need at the food pantry,” she said. “The donation will help get us through the holiday season.”

Goodnight said the pantry purchases food from the Food Finders Food Bank in Lafayette.

She said the program will also raise the awareness in the community where the food comes from.

Young Farmers was started by the Indiana Farm Bureau in 1969.
