Heavy rains leave Indiana roads flooded

ODON, Ind. — A southwestern Indiana county is urging motorists to stay off roads after the National Weather Service says more than 3 inches of rain fell.

A Sullivan County dispatcher say the general travel advisory was issued Wednesday night because roads were inundated.

The National Weather Service cited an amateur radio in reporting more than 3 inches of rain Wednesday afternoon in the county directly south of Terre Haute.

WTHI-TV reports adjacent Greene County also advised motorists to restrict travel because of flooded roads and downed tree limbs and power lines. WTHI said several state highways and county roads were impassible in spots.

The weather service says 3.5 inches of rain fell in about a half hour in the Daviess County town of Odon, about 40 miles southwest of Bloomington.
