Impromptu Indiana run to benefit Boston victims

The Associated Press

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A Terre Haute woman who completed this year's Boston Marathon about 10 minutes before two explosions killed three people and injured hundreds has organized a run to benefit victims of the attack.

Majel Wells has planned the "Memorial 1-Mile Run/Walk for Boston" Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute. The event will begin at 2 p.m.

She says the informal event will accept donations for The One Fund Boston, the victims' fund established by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino. The fund had raised more than $26 million as of Friday.

Wells tells the Tribune-Star she felt compelled to do something positive after returning from the marathon.
