S. Ind. woman stricken at Patoka had heart problem

The Associated Press

TASWELL, Ind. — Authorities say a woman who died on southern Indiana's Patoka Reservoir over the weekend succumbed to a heart problem.

Conservation Officer Jeffrey Milner said Tuesday that 55-year-old Patti Hoskins-Owens died of an "acute heart event."

Milner told The Republic an autopsy was performed at St. Vincent Salem Hospital on Monday.

Officers had said Hoskins-Owens had been in the water on a raft Sunday afternoon when she cried for help getting back to a boat. Once on the boat, she became unresponsive.

The incident occurred in the Sycamore Creek area of the reservoir about 45 miles west of Louisville, Ky.
