Teen ordered to pay $750,000 for school sex attack

MUNCIE, Ind. — A judge has ordered a teenager to pay $750,000 to the fellow student at a central Indiana high school whom he was convicted of sexually assaulting.

A Delaware County judge issued the order in a lawsuit filed by the girl over the November 2010 attack at Muncie Central High School.

An attorney for the girl says he doesn't know whether any of the money can be collected from the now-19-year-old attacker who's been released from prison after serving a sentence for sexual battery and criminal confinement. Attorney Cari Sheehan tells The Star Press that collection is "up in the air."

The state appeals court overturned a conviction for the school's then-principal for failing to immediately report the girl's rape allegations to police.
