Carl E. Shull

Jan. 27, 1930 - Dec. 20, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS — Carl E. Shull, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away Dec. 20, 2006, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Pike Township in Jay County, the son of Roy and Bessie (Ross) Shull. He retired from Lucent Technology (formerly Western Electric) in 1986 after 31 years of service. Following retirement, Carl worked at Village Pantry and, most recently, he was self-employed mowing lawns for Cohron’s Mobile Home Park.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly J. (Reger) Shull; children, Teresa (John) Vandy of Coatesville, Steven (Marie) Shull of Greenwood, and Tina Brindley of Greenfield; stepdaughter, Nicole Smith of Ingalls; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Sutton and Vera White, both of Portland, Ilene (Clyde) Schuetzle of Arkansas, Ruth Hartman of California, and Carol (Bob) Manor of Bryant; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray and Fay Shull; and stepson, Michael Free.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Erlewein Mortuary, 124 E. Staat St., Fortville.

Carl requested donations be sent to the Indiana Cancer Research Foundation with envelopes available at the mortuary.
