ANDERSON – McDonald's is going hog wild next week to promote three new bacon-centric food items with free bacon.
For one hour Jan. 29, the fast food joint will give every customer two half-pieces of its new thick-cut, Applewood-smoked bacon to add to any item they order.
The “bacon hour” event is meant to highlight three new menu items: the Big Mac with bacon, the Quarter Pounder Bacon burger, and cheesy bacon fries, as well as the new type of bacon.
The "Bacon Hour" is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on Tuesday. Customers are eligible to receive two half-pieces of bacon on the side of any order, whether a burger, a Filet-O-Fish or a hot-fudge sundae. McDonald's will limit each customer to one side of bacon during the hour.
"I love bacon. America loves bacon," chef Michael Haracz, manager of culinary innovation at McDonald's, said in a prepared statement. "I really can't wait to see the crazy and daring combinations our customers put together."
The Big Mac with bacon, the Quarter Pounder Bacon burger, and cheesy bacon fries are scheduled to launch Jan. 30, the day after Bacon Hour.
