These events and activities have been canceled or postponed because of COVID-19 health concerns:

Government offices/Public services

  • Anderson City Court – All city court sessions postponed
  • Anderson Housing Authority closed to the public, but fully operational to continue services for the residents and Section 8 voucher holders, until further notice. Main office at 765-641-2620, listen carefully to all instructions on how to reach case managers and other pertinent staff. For emergency maintenance requests, call 765-641-2626.
  • The Animal Protection League is closed to the public. To view adoptable animals, visit www.inapl.org, fill out an application, and once approved an appointment will be set up. Off-site adoption sites for cats will remain open.
  • Edgewood Town Court will be closed to the public through May 15. All nonessential court hearings will be postponed.
  • Anderson Public Library and Lapel Branch Library are closed until further notice.
  • North Madison County Public Libraries (Elwood, Summitville and Frankton) are closed until further notice.
  • Madison County Government Center and public offices closed to public.

Hospitals

  • No visitors permitted at Community Hospital Anderson; exceptions made for one visitor per room in certain units. Read more here.
  • Ascension St. Vincent, including the Anderson hospital, has implemented temporary visitor restrictions. Read more here.

Schools

  • Shenandoah School Corporation closed for three weeks, through April 6. No activities or practices. Read more here.
  • All Madison County public and private schools were closed through April 6. With schools on different calendars, that period included one or two weeks of spring break for most districts. Read more here. 
  • IHSAA postponed, then canceled the boys basketball state tournament. Read more here.

Churches

  • Central Christian Church’s Sunday services are suspended indefinitely. The offices are also closed. Sunday services are available online.
  • Madison Park Church will be online only Sunday. Worshippers can watch service at 9 and 10:30 a.m. by visiting madisonparkchurch.org and clicking "Watch Live."
  • Chesterfield Community Church of God has canceled all services and events.

  • Calvary Baptist Church, 3030 E. 10th St., Anderson, will conduct services online beginning March 15.
  • First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St., church services for Sunday, March 22. 
  • Friendship Missionary Baptist Church's March 17-19 revival has been canceled.
  • Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 2000 N. Scatterfield Road, Anderson will be closed effective immediately.
  • New Horizons United Methodist Church, 611 E. 53rd St., Anderson, has suspended all church activities, but the pastor has started doing Livestream sermons through Facebook. The Learning Tree Children's Ministry is still open.
  • Anderson Zion Baptist Church Women's Ministry Prayer Breakfast scheduled in March was postponed to a  later date. 

Organizations, Clubs & Attractions

  • Anderson Obedience Club training classes canceled until further notice. Information: 765-734-1107.
  • Elwood and Pendleton YMCA facilities closed through March 23. Anderson facility will maintain normal business hours. No Child Watch, group exercise classes or youth programming through March 23.
  • Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre closed through May 14.
  • East Side Crime Watch meetings canceled indefinitely
  • Paramount Theatre has suspended/postponed all performances and event for the immediate future.
  • Rangeline Community Center has suspended all public events indefinitely
  • A Town Center has suspended all upcoming events and classes until further notice
  • Children's Museum in Indianapolis closed until further notice.
  • Golden Age Euchre Club games suspended.
  • Conner Prairie closed.
  • Geater Center closed, activities postponed
  • Harrah’s Hoosier Park closed until further notice.
  • Frankton American Legion is closed indefinitely. There will be no dinners or bingo or other activities scheduled at this time.
  • The Madison County Chamber is suspending all regularly scheduled events including Power Up, Wake Up, and Third House Legislative Reviews through April.
  • Pendleton Artists Society Gallery 119 closed. Art Fest 2020 in May is canceled; the next one is scheduled April 16, 2021.

• Anderson Symphony Orchestra's full-stage production of "South Pacific" with Anderson University's Musical Theatre Department at the Paramount Theatre was canceled.

• The ASO's annual Chocolate and Wine fundraiser was rescheduled to Sept. 26.

April 25

  • 4-H Horse & Pony has postponed its Dan's Fish Fry event from April 25 to May 16. Presale tickets will be good for the rescheduled event.

May 1 and 2

• Soroptimist International of Anderson canceled the annual Lunafest women's film festival. A new date has not been announced.

May 2

  • Markleville Alumni Banquet canceled

June 11-14

• Alley Theatre's special production of “Souvenir” canceled at Central Christian Church. 

Aug. 22

• 100 Years Celebration of Women's Suffrage canceled. Rescheduled for Aug. 14, 2021.
