ANDERSON — Madison County Sheriff's Department deputies anticipate filing criminal charges after a police pursuit ended in a collision that sent five people to the hospital on Wednesday.

Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger said his deputies were involved in a pursuit of a red 2015 Mitsubishi at approximately 6:15 p.m. from the area of Valley Drive and Hartman Road.

The fleeing vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Cross Street and Madison Avenue and struck a silver GMC, Mellinger said in a press release.

The driver of the GMC and a juvenile passenger were taken to Community Hospital Anderson with unknown injuries from the accident.

Robert Dale Mott, 27, of Anderson was driving the Mitsubishi at the time of the accident and was taken to Community Hospital Anderson and then transported to Community Hospital North in Indianapolis with unknown injuries. Two of the passengers in his vehicle were also taken to Indianapolis, according to the press release.

Two of the people in the Mitsubishi have active arrest warrants, Mellinger said.

Dakota Strafford of Anderson was also a passenger in the Mitsubishi but fled prior to the pursuit, according to the press release.

The investigation is ongoing at this time, Mellinger said.
