ALEXANDRIA – No injuries were reported in an accident Tuesday afternoon on Indiana 9 involving a semitractor-trailer and a work truck from an Anderson concrete company.

According to investigating officer Blake Stephenson of the Indiana State Police, the truck driven by Quinton Vann, 34, of Anderson, was headed south on Indiana 9 and while apparently attempting a right turn, failed to negotiate a curve in the road and drifted left of the center line and left the roadway.

Vann overcorrected and the truck returned to the road, where its passenger side struck the passenger side of a Freightliner semitractor-trailer driven by Paul Byrd, 59, of Marion. Byrd had swerved to his left in an attempt to avoid the pickup.

The collision caused Byrd’s truck to jackknife.

Both drivers appeared uninjured at the scene. The highway was closed for nearly four hours to allow workers to clean up debris and a small amount of fuel that leaked from the tractor-trailer.
