BARNESVILLE, Minn. – The Anderson man who was driving the car involved in a fatal accident in Minnesota is now facing charges of vehicular homicide.
The charges come following a confession from the driver, Derrick E. Pierce, 23, of smoking methamphetamine the day before the accident, according to Forum News Service.
The criminal charges were filed Tuesday for two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular operation.
Pierce was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, Minn., to be treated for minor injuries after rear-ending a semi on Interstate 94.
Anderson resident Ashley Callahan, 24, was taken to the same medical center with serious injuries, including injuries to her spinal cord.
The front seat passenger, David T. Hinkle, 30, of Anderson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pierce admitted to smoking methamphetamine and being the driver of the car to a trooper at the hospital, according to Forum News Service.
Methamphetamine was also found in the vehicle.
