United in Christ hosts Good Friday Service

ANDERSON — United in Christ will host its Good Friday Service on Friday at 5 p.m. at the SonRise Retreat Center, 6720 Ridgeview Road. 

The service will feature seven pastors as speakers and their congregations: Pastor M.C. Collins and Anderson Zion Baptist Church, Pastor Kevin Woodgett and Church of the Living God, Pastor Tom Farling and Living Water Community Church, Pastor Tad Finch and Rock Church Assembly of God, Pastor V. Terrell Traylor and Good Samaritan Baptist Church, Pastor John Jones and New Life Apostolic Church, and the host Pastor Louis C. Jackson Jr and United In Christ Church. 

This year’s theme is “The Cross Makes the Difference: Let’s Get It Together.”


Madison Park Church invites community to Good Friday Service

ANDERSON — Experience a moving Good Friday Service at Madison Park Church on Friday at 7 p.m. 

Worship at the cross with Alanna Story, worship leaders at Madison Park Church and nationally acclaimed recording artists, songwriters and musicians. 

Admission is free. 


Chesterfield church celebrating Easter

CHESTERFIELD — Chesterfield Christian Church, 207 E. Plum St., will celebrate Holy Week with numerous services.

• Palm Sunday service, 7 p.m.

• Monday through Wednesday service, 7 p.m.

• Maundy Thursday will be a special service to celebrate the Last Supper with a pitch-in supper beginning at 6:30 p.m.

• Community Good Friday Service at 6:30 p.m. This service will be held at the Chesterfield Community Church of God, 123 Linden Lane. 

Ministers in the area that will be a part of the services include Arthur Jaggard, the Rev. Howard Bellamy, the Rev. Phil "P.T."  Morgan, the Rev. Kent Stookey and Pastor Ned Clark. 


Palm Sunday dinner at The Cross

ANDERSON —  The Cross Christian Church, 1521 E. 18th St., will host a Palm Sunday dinner on Sunday.

Sunday school will be at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. 


New Jerusalem hosts Seven Words

ANDERSON — New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 2318 Sheridan St., will host its annual Seven Words from the Cross at 6 p.m. on Good Friday. 

There will be seven speakers: Ministers Williams, Zion Baptist Church, Kokomo; Minister Shawn Alexandra, Antioch Baptist Church, Muncie; Minster Watson, Church Upon the Rock; Minster Brian Foard, Friendship Baptist Church, Marion; Pastor Leroy Jackson, Greater Pilgrim Rest, Muncie; Minister Jack Green, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Marion; and Minster Anthoney Johnson, Anderson. 


11th Hour in concert Monday

ANDERSON —  East 38th Street Free Will Baptist Church, 1125 E. 38th St., will have the 11th Hour Gospel Group in concert at 7 p.m. Monday.

11th Hour Gospel Group was the winner of the 2014 Sunrise Diamond Award. Their debut album in October 2012 was "Steppin’ Out." They followed that up with "Picture This" in June 2014.

The group has also been nominated for awards this year by fans of the Singing News magazine and Absolutely Gospel Music magazine. 11th Hour has had several top 10 charting songs, including "Steppin’ Out," "Adam’s Fall," "Room With A View" and "How Will You Plead."

The members of the group are Amber Eppinette, Grant Gibson and Jaquita Lindsey. 

There is no admission charge for this event. A love offering will be accepted.


Easter program set at Restoration

ANDERSON — Restoration Fellowship Ministries' Sunday school department will present its 19th annual Easter Program.

This year's theme is "Because He Lives." 

The program will take place on Sunday, April 5, at 4 p.m. at 1207 W. Ninth St.

Bishop Clinton Hunter Jr. is pastor.


Sparks to lead services at St. Paul's

GREENFIELD — St. Paul’s Anglican Reformed Episcopal announces that the Rev. Daniel J. Sparks of Tyler, Texas, will lead several services during Holy Week.

Sparks will be guiding the Good Friday Evening Prayer at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday Communion Service will be celebrated at the church at 10:30 a.m.

A pitch-in Easter dinner will follow the service. All are invited to attend. The church is at 20 West South St. Information: 448-5114.


Park Place prepares for Holy Week

ANDERSON — Park Place Church of God will host Holy Week services, beginning with a Palm Sunday service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

On Thursday, the church will feature a Maundy Thursday Seder Meal, hosted by Patrick and Marco Nachitgall. The meal will take place in the Fellowship Hall. A full dinner will be offered. Sign up to reserve your place at the Information Table in the Narthex or in the church office. The Lord's Supper and footwashing experience will follow the meal. Cost is $18 for family, $6 for adults, $3 for students (kindergarten through high school), and free for college and pre-K.

Good Friday services will be at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary, hosted by Coffee House Worship. Refreshments, singing of worship songs and interactive sharing around tables and in pews. James Lewis, dean of the School of Theology at Anderson University, will be guest storysharer. Childcare will be available for infants through age 3 in the Bessie Byrum Lounge.

Easter Sunday services will be at 10:30 a.m. on April 5.


Madison Christian plans services

FRANKTON — Madison Christian Church, 1015 Sheridan St., will host these Holy Week services: 

• Palm Sunday: 9 a.m. Bible study, 10 a.m. worship and children’s church

• Maundy Thursday: Meal and service, 6:30 p.m.

• Community Good Friday Service, 7 p.m., at Frankton Christian Church, 206 Church St. Participating churches include Church of the First Born, First United Methodist Church, Frankton Christian Church and Madison Christian Church.

• Sunday, April 5: 8 a.m. Easter Sunrise Service, 9 a.m. breakfast, 10 a.m. worship and Easter egg hunt during children’s church. 


First Presbyterian drama on Thursday

ANDERSON — First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Ninth St., will hold a Maundy Thursday Worship Drama at 7:30 p.m.

Entitled "Betrayal, Denial, and Forgiveness," the moving narration experiences music drawn from powerful requiems by Mozart, Cherubini, Verdi and Berlioz, sung by soloists Mary Kathryn Brewer, Mary Beth Bulen and Damion Mead with the Chancel Choir. 


Madison Park hosts Maundy Thursday service

ANDERSON — Madison Park Church of God, 67th Street and Providence Drive, will host a Maundy Thursday observance on Thursday at 7 p.m. in The Commons.

The Gospel of Mark comes alive with Christian actor, Alan Atwood. Atwood will recite Mark’s account of the events that led to the cross. Holy Communion will be offered. The ordinance of feet washing, instituted by Christ as an example of servanthood, will be offered to those who wish to participate.


Trinity Epsicopal sets services

ANDERSON — Trinity Episcopal Church, 1030 Brown-Delaware St., announces the schedule of services for Holy Week and Easter:

• Palm Sunday: Liturgy of the Palms and Holy Eucharist, 9 a.m.

• Wednesday: Eucharist at noon, followed by free soup lunch

• Maundy Thursday: Holy Eucharist and Stripping of the Altar, 7:30 p.m.

• Good Friday: Liturgy with Communion from the Reserved Sacrament, noon and 7 p.m.; private confession available after service

• Easter Sunday – Festival Eucharist, 9 a.m.

Madison Park to host Easter Jam

ANDERSON — Madison Park Church of God invites the community to Easter Jam, a free event for kids on Saturday, April 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. 

The event includes games, crafts and an Easter egg hunt.! They'll be a special retelling of the Easter story, too.

Community service on Good Friday

WILKINSON — Community Good Friday services will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilkinson Church of Christ.

Pastor Ben Dilworth of the Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church will deliver the message.

Seven churches will join together for the service: Shirley Church of the Nazarene, Christ Fellowship Church, Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, Wilkinson Church of Christ, Shirley Friends Church, Warrington Church of the Nazarene and Grant City Wesleyan Church.
