Free swimming at Southside Pool

ANDERSON — Free admission to Anderson's Southside Pool will continue this summer season, Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr. announced.

Southside Pool, 4530 Madison Ave., will operate Tuesday through Thursday and on Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. The pool will be closed Monday and in use for the city’s Summer Park Program.

The pool will also be used for the summer program on Tuesday mornings before noon.

Hospital auxiliary brings food truck

ANDERSON — The Pork Paradise Food Truck will be at the Community Hospital Anderson courtyard from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

This is a fundraiser sponsored by the Auxiliary. The hospital is located at 1515 N. Madison Ave.

APD block party at Belmont Park

ANDERSON — An Anderson Police Department block party is planned from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Belmont Park, 29th and Dewey streets.

Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr., The Anderson Police Department Community Oriented Policing Section and Chief Tony Watters are hosting this second neighborhood event.

There will be hot dogs and drinks. A disc jockey will play music, there will be a free bounce house and snow cones, and the APD K-9 units will be there as well as vehicles from the city's police and fire departments.

The public is invited to attend.

PitStop to mark grand opening

ANDERSON — The PitStop Bar and Restaurant, 1220 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., will host its grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Families and children are welcome. For each adult meal purchased, get a free child's meal.

Monthly meal for veterans, families

ANDERSON — The Anderson Church of the Brethren will host a free meal and program for all veterans, active service people and their families from Anderson and its surrounding area at 6 p.m. Friday.

This monthly meal and program for veterans and their families is held on the second Friday of each month except July and January. Friday's meal will be fried chicken, vegetables, salads, and desserts. A program will follow.

The church is located at 711 N. Scatterfield Road. Enter by the back door on the south side of the building.

Oak Ridge Boys concert at Paramount

ANDERSON — The Oak Ridge Boys will bring their 2019 Christmas show to the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Lead singer Duane Allen, bass singer Richard Sterban, tenor Joe Bonsall and baritone William Lee Golden comprise one of country’s legendary acts.

Their string of hits includes the Country-Pop chart-topper “Elvira,” as well as “Bobbie Sue,” “Dream On,” “Thank God For Kids,” “American Made,” “I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes,” “Fancy Free,” “Gonna Take A Lot Of River,” and many others.

Grace Baptist plans Love Works Day

ANDERSON — Grace Baptist Church, 432 W. 300N, is having a Love Works Day on Saturday, June 22, to clean up storm damage and overgrown brush in pioneer cemeteries in Richland Township and helping clean up and landscape a disabled veteran’s yard.

Workers should meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. and bring their tools.

Food and fellowship are planned following the work.
