Local Toastmasters mark 70th year
ANDERSON — Chief Anderson Toastmasters will meet Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. in the Carnegie Room, third floor, Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St.
On June 1, the Toastmasters club celebrated its 70th anniversary in Anderson. It was chartered on June 1, 1949.
Library to host Social Security workshop
ANDERSON — The public is invited to the Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., to attend a free educational session on Social Security planning from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Delaware Room.
Brian Harris and Michael Gorin, financial advisers with Westpoint Financial, will provide an overview of Medicare basics and discuss how to use current assets to work with your planning and maximize your retirement income.

Looking for golf teams, sponsors
ANDERSON — Teams and sponsors are sought for the 12th annual Madison County Chamber/United Way Golf Classic on Friday, July 19, at Anderson Country Club. The county's largest golf event features both morning and afternoon flights for team play. Prizes will be awarded in several individual contests and for the top 3 teams.
Proceeds from the event will benefit both organizations and support local programs that give families and businesses in Madison County opportunities to thrive.

Vendors Market set for Saturday
CHESTERFIELD — Chesterfield Christian Church, 207 E. Plum St., will host a Vendors Market in the Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
There will be more than 20 vendors and lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lapel Legion plans Veterans Ride
LAPEL — The eighth annual American Legion Riders Post 212 Veterans Ride will take place Saturday.
Breakfast will be from 7 to 10 a.m. Cost is $7 for all-you-can-eat.
Registration gets underway at 8 a.m. with kickstands up at 11 a.m. at the Lapel Legion. The first 100 registered will receive a T-shirt and dinner. Cost is $20 for single rider and $10 for passenger.
There will be a 50/50, Chinese auction and raffles.
Sponsorship prices are $25, bronze; $50, silver; and $100, gold.
The ride will stop at the Middletown Legion, Royerton AMVETS, Yorktown Legion and end at the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408, 5100 Mounds Road, where a chicken noodle dinner will be served.

Speaker's topic 'Looking up in Loss'
ANDERSON — The Bereavement Support Ministry at Bethany Christian Church, 1920 N. Rangeline Road, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Bob Bell, senior minister of Bethany, will speak on the topic: "Looking up in Loss." Following a discussion period, the evening will conclude a time of fellowship and refreshments.
This session will be in the church's Fireside Room. Enter through the north door across from Highland Middle School.
This ministry is provided free for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. Reservations are not necessary.
State Fair concerts announced
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Fair has announced the first six of 17 concerts that will be part of the 2019 Indiana State Fair Free Stage headline entertainment, which returns Aug. 2-18. Each night features a concert that is free with paid fair admission.
The first six shows are:
